What are the inherent limitations of copper castings in industrial application?

Although copper castings own many unique strengths, they also have inherent limitations restricting certain application scenarios. The raw material density of copper alloys is far higher than aluminum alloys,so large copper castings bring obvious weight burden for mobile lightweight equipment projects.Copper alloys have lower high-temperature resistance compared with iron and steel castings;long-term continuous operation under ultra-high temperature will lead to softening and deformation of components.Without surface plating or passivation treatment, bare copper castings will gradually oxidize and produce patina in humid air, affecting appearance and partial surface conductivity. The casting cost of copper alloys is higher than cast iron and cast aluminum, not suitable for low-demand low-cost general structural parts. In addition, direct contact between copper and iron in wet environments triggers galvanic corrosion, requiring isolating gaskets for combined assembly structures of dissimilar metals.
